| Principle: |
The sample containing Nitrogen and Oxygen present as nitride and oxide has well defined melting point, it is possible to separate one from another by fusion at a corresponding furnace temperature. The gradually increases furnace temperature at a programmed rate (ramping). Nitrides and oxides are then separately determined in the same order as their melting point. Nitrogen and CO are carried by Helium gas, the CO is oxidised to Carbon dioxide and is selectively measured by an infra-red cell Nitrogen is measured by thermal conductivity.
